The Skilled Leader
The Skilled Leader is a development experience designed for individuals or organisations that want leadership growth to translate into real‑world impact.
While many programmes focus heavily on knowledge acquisition, they often overlook the practical support leaders need to apply that knowledge in the moments that matter.
The Skilled Leader closes that gap. It begins with an alignment meeting to define the capabilities that matter most, using O.Y.D.’s five‑level framework to identify up to eight priority leadership skills that supports strategic delivery. Each participant then completes a tailored skill audit, combining questionnaires, self‑reflection, and manager insights, to build a clear picture of strengths and development needs.
With this foundation in place, leaders embark on a six‑month journey grounded entirely in practical application. There are no traditional workshops, all core knowledge is accessed through expert‑led LinkedIn Learning courses, with specific modules recommended to each participant based on their identified skill gaps. This ensures individuals can digest the information in their own way and spend their coaching time not on sitting in workshops but on translating insight into action. Through targeted one‑to‑one coaching, participants focus on their unique development areas and practise applying new behaviours in real situations. A dedicated manager toolkit reinforces this process, helping ensure learning is supported, observed, and embedded back in the workplace.

The initial meeting sets the scene for what skills you are looking to develop either individually or organisationally. Using O.Y.Ds’ five level skill framework, we will work to identify up to 8 leadership skills and the level that needs to be demonstrated to achieve your desired outcome.


Alignment


Each individual holds their own unique skills and experience and we reflect and honour this in the Skilled Leader Programme. Once the skills have been identified a skill audit will be conducted to determine the areas that will create the focus of development for everyone engaged in the programme.
The Skill audit is conducted of:
A questionnaire sent to Direct reports and peers (if requested) to understand the current view of how the individual is demonstrating the desired skills.
An interview with the individual to determine in their view how they are demonstrating the desired skills
An interview with who the individual reports into to determine their view on how the individual is demonstrating the desired skills.


Skill Audit


Working with a dedicated coach and recommended courses through LinkedIn learning, Individuals will undertake 6 coaching sessions (monthly) to focus on the development areas that have been highlighted. In addition, a support tool kit will be provided to the person that the individual reports into to assist in the continuing development.
